Assessment Design Assignment

Overview

The needs assessment that we came up with was to teach teachers how to use the SMART board more effectively in their classroom. They would be able to use the tools that are given by the software to effectively teach with the SMART board. The teachers would also be able to use the gallery of different subject areas to visually display different content materials. The teachers will be able effectively create lessons that they would be able to use in their classrooms. By using the SMART board in their classes they will gain a better focus from a wider group of learners, the visual learning style is ever changing and the SMART board reinforces this learning style.

Having the teachers sit and listen to use on how we are using the SMART board is one things, but if we don’t allow them a chance to make a sample lesson. All of us having the use of a tablet PC will come in handy. The teachers will be able to work on their sample activity right in front of use in case a question arises. Having the teachers working with our supervision will allow us to show them different ways they can use the software that is provided by the program, and help them functionally use the software for lessons. Allowing the teachers to work on a sample lesson with our guidance will give them the abilities to create other lessons to use in their classrooms. We will also be able to observe if they have mastered their goal or not.

Instructional Media

There were many reasons for us choosing the SMART Board technologies for our needs assessment. Our school has spent a great deal of money providing each classroom with a projector, SMART Board, and a tablet PC. At this time many teachers are not using the SMART Board to its fullest capabilities or not even using the SMART Board at all. With our students evermore learning through visuals the use of the interactive SMART Board is another way to get lessons across to them. We believe with technology leading the way to the future, the more we can expose our students to the technologies, the better prepared and more familiar with the technologies they will be. Teaching teachers how to use the SMART Board to its fullest capabilities so that students can have every chance at learning and using technology is our main goal.
