Project Proposal

Administrators need to be able to manage the school, its operations, resources, and all in a way that offers students a safe, effective, and efficient place to learn to their fullest abilities. There are many things administrators need to do in order to fulfill all of the above attributes that are needed in every school district. During my internship and a school finance class, I had the opportunity to participate in a couple areas that as a teacher you don't see. These activities really offered examples of the importance of the management side of the school district operations and obtaining the proper resources for students to have a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.

Artifact 1:

My final project for school finance dives into the issue of school funding and the state's efficient manner of funding their public schools. My project specifically looks at different court cases that have happened because of improper funding to public schools. Each state is responsible for funding its public education in a manner that gives teachers adequate opportunities to teach students to their fullest abilities. It is impossible for teachers to raise student achievement levels without adequate school funding. This project opened my eyes to state funding its schools. It answered the questions to how school work with and around different budgeting constraints.

Artifact 2:

During my internship, one of my responsibilities was to attend school board meetings. These were a great way to show the vast responsibilities that administrators at our school had to fulfill in order to manage the school's needs. This was also very insightful in that I was able to observe the different views from different backgrounds of our board. These meetings really gave perspective in the areas of extra duties that our administrators are to undertake. In most schools in today's era, one common concern is funding. These meetings were tools that showed how the school was going to use a wide array of resources to provide for our students and staff. I am fortunate that I was able to attend these meetings, discuss extra issues with my principal after the meetings, and to have chosen this as one area in my internship.

Artifact 3:

My project proposal was a proposal for the implementation and use of iPad 2 devices into the classrooms in Chester Elementary. This proposal was a way for me to manage the resources that were at the disposal of elementary teachers at our school. Effective and efficient learning environments have taken a different look in the past few years, and these new devices give great opportunities for students and staff to enhance this new learning environment. This proposal was effective in that the credentials of the different presenters for instruction would have and how they could be beneficial to the staff that is attending. This proposal has specific targeted audiences as well as learning objectives for these groups. The iPad implementation plan also has precise assessments that will be used to ensure the things that were intended to be taught are taught and effectively used by the staff members for implementing iPad 2 devices and programs into their classrooms. This proposal was an important element in my program as it showed how an administrator would gain trainings for staff, manage resources of my school, and ensure that I am facilitating an effective and efficient learning environment.
