In today’s high stakes educational system it is very important that a teachers be aware of current practices, research, theories, and issues in education. For my students to gain the knowledge needed to cover the standards I need to be up to date in current practices and research. Being able to research new methods and different instructional strategies is valuable for my student’s growth. The rapid change of educational practices, issues, and theories as a teacher I need to be able to find and implement all these aspects in my classroom.  Being able to adapt, find, and use all of these aspects in my classroom in valuable for me as the teacher and extremely valuable for my students.

Artifact 1:

Artifact one is a research paper dealing with Autism. This is one disability that is growing ever more prevalent in the education world today, the likely hood of children born today having Autism is growing at a rapid pace. This paper gave me a great chance to research different aspects of Autism that will help me as a teacher. To become knowledge able to a disability that would show up in my classroom proves current practices. While writing this paper I was informed on my new theories on Autism things that cause Autism, way to help students with Autism, and how to teach effectively with an Autistic student in your classroom. With the combination of all these factors it has made a large growth in opening my eyes to a wide variety of issues in education today.

Artifact 2:

The presentation for artifact 2 deals with an issue that is in place in the European countries and could happen here in the United States. While preparing for the presentation and completing the PowerPoint we had to take a look at a wide variety of different research to complete a well informative presentation. This presentation displays that I have sufficient ability to research topics, keep informed on current practice, and show a non-bias stand on a theory and issue in the educational world.
