Group Learning

As an educator to have the understanding of how your students learn is one of the most valuable skills needed. Having this skill is important in the classroom it is also important for a teacher to have this skill in other areas other than just in the classroom. Teachers that know how a student learns will inevitably get more out of their students and help their students grow.

Artifact 1

The cognitive psychology map shows how students use different parts of their brain to comprehend different information. All the different parts of the baseball team make up the different components of cognitive development. Like the brain the baseball team needs to have all the components for the baseball team to have successful outcomes. The brain needs all the different components like prior knowledge, short term memory, long term memory, retrieval, and recall for the brain to operate properly.

Artifact 2

This artifact is an effective teaching project. The strategy covered in this project was group learning. This is important because group work is not the most effective way for students to learn if it is not done effectively. The model is highly versatile and comprehensive; it blends the goals of academic inquiry, social integration, and social process learning. It can be used in all subject areas, with all age levels, when the teacher desires to emphasize the formulation, and problem solving aspects of knowledge rather than the intake of pre-organized information. When group learning is done properly learning goes from extrinsic to intrinsic. The grouping investigation model of learning and teaching has a six phase process that needs to happen for the group activity to successful.
